Bush Bite #25 - 8 Oct 2004
Support the troops: boot their boss

In Wednesday's debate, Bush said, "Veterans are getting very good health care under my administration."

Yeah, and you showed up at the Alabama Air Guard too.

Veterans of Foreign Wars assailed the president’s 2005 budget, saying, "This deplorable budget will do nothing to alleviate the many thousands of veterans who are waiting six months or more for basic health care appointments with VA...This is inexcusable.

According to leading veterans’ organizations, President Bush’s 2005 budget shortchanged veterans health-care facilities by $2.9 billion.

President Bush’s 2005 budget would increase prescription drug co-pays from $7 to $15 for many veterans. In 2002, the co-pay more than tripled, jumping from $2 to $7.
